It's Lonely at the TopMy brother -Louie Albert Short- passed away on June 15, 2002. He was married five times. Finally got an email address through excite search - tried to get hold of her when he had his first operation and then just before he got really bad and again when he died - and got hold of his second wife whom he was married to or living with- longest -out of all his families. I am finding this hard to write about. He died a sad and lonely death. He suffered for over a year with heart failure after failed heart surgery. She called today and we had a strange conversation. Like she said, "He was the love of my life, when it was good it was real good, but when it was bad, you couldn't be around him! There's hasn't been anyone like him for me!" As far as I know-she's never remarried. She still has his last name. Enough said . . . I will be 52 years old this year. I am the 5th child of Pearl William and Bettie Lue Foster Short. My father passed away November 20th, 1996. My mother turned 78 years old this year, and although she is overweight and takes heart and other medicines, she gets along fairly well. My mother has lost her 4 older children - funny when you think that 4 was the number of children she said she wanted to have. Now me, the 5th child (there are 5 younger than me) - I am - officially the oldest - and I am here to tell you - that it is lonely at the top when you shouldn't be at the top! Woo is me DayToday was a - woo is me day - hubbie stayed home and actually slept pretty much all the day - got up for awhile - now he is back in bed. He nevers stays home - and he hasn't been "sick" for a long time! Things have not been too bad around here lately - although we did have a blow out yesterday that could have been worse than it turned out to be. The 18 year old man-child and the almost 16 year old woman-child are having a battle over a webcam. The things these kids do with that thing - well, I don't even want to imagine-what they can or do do with it-so let's just say that if it were up to me-which it should be and actually is-I would chuck it!
